Indian single malts grew by 144% in 2021-22, much more than the 32% growth seen in Scotch whisky, according to data from IWSR Drinks Market Analysis. Looking ahead to 2027, the report predicts that Indian malts will continue to grow by 13% each year, compared to Scotch, which is expected to grow by 8% a year.
Piccadily Distilleries, the maker of Indri whisky, plans to increase its production capacity by 66%, reaching 20,000 liters (5,300 gallons) per day by 2025. The company also aims to expand beyond its current 18 international markets, which currently make up 30% of its sales, according to founder Siddhartha Sharma.
