For billions of years, humanity's main challenge was to survive against the forces of nature. Over time, this struggle shifted to conflicts and cooperation between people. Now, we are entering a new era: the era of humans versus or alongside Artificial Intelligence (AI).
"The integration of AI into various parts of our lives has clearly transformed industries, economies, and daily routines," says IAS Subodh Agarwal. "However, as we embrace these advancements, it's crucial to consider the potential challenges and ethical dilemmas they bring."
With the rise of AI, especially tools like ChatGPT, machines have started to understand and use human language in ways we've never seen before. AI can help with everyday tasks, such as providing services, managing household utilities, and making payments. But the impact of AI goes far beyond just making life more convenient.
"Imagine a future where AI isn't just helping us, but actually shaping our worldviews, drafting laws, or even writing religious texts," Dr. Subodh Agarwal IAS continues. "If we train AI to write and influence political narratives, we might reach a point where it becomes hard to tell the difference between human and machine input. That's why we need to think carefully about what we want AI to do and what it shouldn't do.
