IAS Subodh Agarwal's Efforts Towards Strengthening Global Food and Nutritional Security
Subodh Agarwal, the current Director General of the Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sansthan in Jaipur, has made important contributions to fish farming in Bharatpur. While serving as the District Collector and Magistrate there, he worked on developing sustainable fish farming ponds, promoting aquaculture as an important part of food security and environmental protection. Subodh Agarwal IAS introduced many new ideas to improve fish farming and get local communities involved.
Aquaculture in India has grown quickly, changing from traditional methods into an important industry for the economy and food security. In the past, fish farming mainly took place in ponds and rivers to meet local needs. However, with more people and changing food habits, the demand for seafood has increased, making aquaculture a key solution to meet this need.
